Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center Sound System Integration
The Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center (WNPAC) is an $81-million, performing arts, music and theater complex. The WNPAC is home to the University of Texas of the Permian Basin Music Department and contains a 1,800-seat performance hall, intimate 200-seat recital hall and is a visually striking facility for communities of Midland, Odessa and even beyond Texas.
Theater Sound Design
The WNPAC turned to the LD Systems Systems Integration Division to design build and install a new L-Acoustics K2 audio solution that would solve the venue’s previous audio challenges and firmly establish the PAC as an attractive stop for top touring acts. The new PA system is comprised of 20 K2 boxes arranged in a left-right hang configuration, with eight K1-SB and four KS28 subwoofers providing generous low-frequency response. Fourteen new Kiva II enclosures are flown in a center array for vocal reinforcement. Seven 5XT enclosures are used for front-fills, with two ARCS Focus boxes serving as in-fills. Eleven LA12X and four LA4X amplified controllers power and process the sound system.
LD Systems audio design technicians utilized L-Acoustics Soundvision software, which provides extremely accurate 3D acoustical simulation and real-time mapping of coverage and delay modes. The sound system design allowed the audio integration team to install the exact same elements in the exact same positions and so that the K2 would overcome the room’s acoustical challenges. The venue’s onsite installation was completed in an astounding five days meeting a key goal to avoid any interference with the WNPAC production schedule. LD Systems provides transformative integration solutions and with every AV Systems Integration project we aim to achieve our client’s goals with a standard of excellence.
