Alamodome Arena Sound System Integration
The Alamodome is the City of San Antonio’s 65,000-seat multipurpose facility used to host football, basketball, soccer, hockey, baseball and other arena sized events. Over the years the sound requirements have only increased as the venue’s original sound system was not keeping up with the live sound reproduction standards necessary to support live events. As part of a recent $60 million renovation project to modernize the venerable venue and make it more competitive with other top North American stadiums, the City of San Antonio called upon Dallas-based technology design firm Idibri to design a new L-Acoustics Alamodome arena sound system that would modernize the arena’s sound system and improve the Alamodome’s aural experience.
The primary objective of the sound system design was to deliver the high impact, high SPL and enhanced intelligibility. This new live sound system will easily meet the demand required by modern arena live events, including the events that fill the arena with cheering fans. The LD Systems bid-spec division installed the new sound system composed of seventy six K2 boxes and a twelve KS28 subwoofers powered by LA8 and LA12X amplified controllers, with fill support from X8 coaxials on the club level.
