
The inaugural Rock the Bayou music festival was held on the site of the former Astroworld over Labor Day weekend in Houston, Texas. LD Systems was hired to provide sound, lights, video, and staging for this 4-day event. The acts included Alice Cooper, Sammy Hagar, Bret Michaels, Queensryche, Twisted Sister, Ratt, LA Guns, Skid Row, Yngwie Malmsteen, Dokken, LA Guns and many others.
SOUND

Front of house sound consisted of a Midas XL4 and a Yamaha PM5D.

Mark Thompson stands behind the Midas XL250 used along with a Yamaha PM5D for monitors.

Main system employed twenty-eight EV XLine XVLS, twenty-eight XSub, four EV XLD (front fill), four EV XArray XF with four EV XB (for offstage fill) and sixty EV P3000RL amplifiers controlled by the EV IRISnet control software. Additionally, four EV XArray XN and four EV XSubs were employed for monitor fill.


Three new EV mics were used with great results. The EV Raven (left), the EV Cardinal (right), and the EV868.
LIGHTING

Lighting at FOH was controlled by two MA Lighting grandMA's.

WYSIWYG lighting program design by LD AJ Freysteinson. This was a design intended to not only satisfy the lighting designers of the headline acts but to also give other acts an 80's retro look during daylight and after dark.

VIDEO

Video control consisted of a Video Toaster housed in a custom production trailer. Duane Wright is seen switching and calling camera shots.

Henry Vojtek operates the jib camera to get high, wide shots.

Markus Taylor just in front of downstage gets the low close-ups.

LD Systems turned to Screenworks to provide the 19'h X 27'w LED screens. LD Systems created the animation logo loop to fill in time between performances.
