Rice University held its Centennial fundraising campaign kickoff gala on November 7, 2008 during an event-filled homecoming week. LD Systems provided services including sound, lights and video for the gala and other events in the tent that followed. Industry partners included The Events Company who provided decor and design, and Aztec Party and Tent Rental who provided tents, flooring and power generators. Content for the screens was produced by XL Films - View the video.

The unique audio design by sound engineer Kelly Jones cleared most of the floor and all of the stage of any speakers. The result was excellent audio coverage with no visual impact.

Pictures below are of post-gala events where part of the tent was draped off to accommodate smaller groups. The drape provided lighting designer Keith Wailes with another surface to focus some of the intelligent lighting.
