National Business Travel Association Opening Reception 2010
George R Brown Convention Center, Houston, Texas

The NBTA Opening Reception was held August 10 at the George R Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. LD Systems was approached by the Greater Houston CVB to design and execute a spectacular sound, lighting and video environment to kick off the week-long conference. LDS not only delivered but also sponsored the event alongside the GHCVB, Houston Airport System and title sponsor, Emirates Airlines.

The massive display system consisted of eleven screens. Eight were 20'X30' and the three center screens arranged in a triangle were 20'x60'.

Four of the eight outer screens. Each screen had its own 22k lumens projector.

The three center screens provided an immersive environment in the room. Each screen image was the result of two 22k lumens projectors with image blending accomplished by a Green Hippo HippotizerHD media server.

The lighting and video truss shown above was mirrored on the other side of the room. Lighting consisted of 48 moving lights including Vari*Lite VL3000 and VL3500's.

The sound system consisted of EV-XLC Line array, EV XVL Subs, surround sound comprised of EV-XLC's and Yamaha PM5D's for main and monitor mix. Pictured to the right is sound designer and FOH Engineer Jeremiah Hamilton.

Scott Justis created this computer render using 3D Max Designer 2010 on the initial pitch. The inner screens were to be masked on the backs until load-in revealed how well the interior looked.
