Jiffy Lube Annual Conference 2009

The 2009 show featured new display technology including the HippotizerHD media server/image blend system and the Barco MiTRIX LED panel system. Even though there were three types of displays on the set, the HippotizerHD fed them all creating a continuous image across the entire set.

The system consisted of (l-r) MiTRIX array, front projection, MiTRIX array, 3-screen blend rear projection, MiTRIX array, front projection and a final MiTRIX array. Switched video was inserted as a PIP i-mag. Video playback was internal to the Hippotizer. Graphics were fed from laptops through ethernet instead of VGA output.

The set was first designed on Autodesk 3D Max at LD Systems' Houston office. Production company Rebels & Nickels provided the 2D floor plan then LDS staff engineers created the design based on the venue's CAD file.

This photograph show how well the lights and video were finely tuned. The blue background of the camera image perfectly matches the blue of the projected background. As an unintended result the camera subject seems to "float" on the screen with no torso.

From the audience perspective the confidence monitor hanging in the middle of the room didn't block the view of the overall set. But the wide shots tell the story better.
