Houston Association of Realtors, one of the largest in the world, gathered at the Hilton Americas in downtown Houston for the annual Realtor Celebration. LD systems, for the fourth year in a row, provided sound, lighting and video services. New for this year was the use of image-blending, media server playback and a single large screen.

Instead of the two screen per side configuration the event utilized LD Systems' 15'X60' rear-projection screen to act as both video display and set backdrop. This allowed image insertion at any location on the overall screen and for both traditional 4:3 and wide screen 16:9 video playback without compromising each format.

One unique feature to the screen is that it is completely ground supported with no house rigging required. In fact, all lighting and sound equipment was also ground-supported allowing the audience to view the screen without low-hanging equipment and trussing.

The single image was accomplished by edge-blending two projected images. Click here to learn more. The system used was LD Systems' Hippotizer Stage 3. This system inserts live video and graphics with internal media playback over background graphics. The image above shows a background that is actually a slow-moving looping animation. This system is also used for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and other events.

In this photo you can see the live camera shot of the speaker with graphics over a background. Note the floor-supported sound to the left of the set and the floor-supported lights to the extreme left. Nothing is hanging in front of the screen nor over the audience.
