LD Systems is proud to be the Production Partner for all Greater Houston Partnership live events for 2009. The first event under the new partnership was the GHP Annual Meeting and the second was the State of the City, Mayor Bill White's last address before the GHP membership. Just completed was Americas Energy Future. The event producer was GHP Creative Partner VT2 Media Design and Communications.
This event, held in the General Assembly room at the George R Brown Convention Center, required a two-projector screen blend which was accomplished with the Green Hippo Hippotizer media server.

The 2009 State of the City luncheon marked the last address to the GHP membership by Mayor Bill White. Held in the Ballroom of the Americas at the Hilton Americas, the technical design overcame many challenges posed by tight seating, chandelier sight lines, and a short load-in window.

The 5th Annual Houston's Greatest event was held at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts in Zilkha Theater. Instead of a traditional draped-off video screen the production team decided to make use of the theater's large projection cyc screen. The scenic design utilized four of our HighEnd Systems DL.2 Digital Light units to create a blended large media image via the internal media servers. A center area was then left black so the house video projector could fill it with video supplied by our camera and playback system.

Camera images projected to the theater's large projection screen.

Because of the coolness in the color of the background image the video image seemed to "float" out in front. An unintended yet dramatic effect.

Guests were treated to a surprise after-party on the theater stage behind the screen. Once the main show ended the screen was flown out, the video projector turned off, and the digital lights became effects projectors. Shown in the corners are our new Vari*Lite VL2500 intelligent lights.
