Houston - The American Marketing Association held the annual Crystal Awards honoring the best of Houston-area marketing efforts by companies, agencies and production companies. The event, held May 29 at the Houston InterContinental Hotel, was a team effort led by many in-kind partner sponsors. LD Systems provided lighting, video and audio equipment and staff in addition to music production. Other partners included MTI Event Management as producer partner, Let It Fly Events as decor partner, J&D Entertainment as entertainment production partner and ZenFilm as video production partner.

Entry Icon, stage by Let It Fly and talent by J&D. Lighting Designer AJ Freysteinson of LD Systems used four HighEnd Systems DL.2 digital light units to project moving media onto the entry icon.

Fire effects were also part of the projection sequence. Freysteinson also backlit the icon with VariLite 2500 wash instruments. Music for the events was remixed versions of Enigma and the speaker system was Electrovoice XLE Very Compact line array with X-line subs. LD Systems audio engineer was Carlos Olivares.

A simple set was deployed to blend with and encompass the Legends Ballroom. Since the truss and lighting system was all ground-support, no house rigging was required. At the top of the picture the ceiling comes alive with media projection via the DL.2 digital lights. Upstage the Crystal Awards are uplit by Coemar LED lights waiting to be given away to the recipients. The outboard video screens were wide screen format and measures 9' X 16'. All media content was recorded and played back in 16x9 format.
