Late Thursday afternoon on September 15,
an emergency call came to LD Systems from the Mayor's Office
of
Special Events.
The request was to quickly join the construction team charged
with bringing a former large grocery building back to life as
the FEMA Houston Processing Center for Katrina victims. LD Systems
assembled a team of service techs and sound techs to access the
condition of the existing paging system, repair what was possible,
and add to the system as needed to insure that an operational
system was in place by Saturday afternoon (48 hours from the
first phone call). As other companies worked
to restore power and clean up a former large grocery building the
LDS team, led by Systems Integration employee Scott Davis, were
able to restore the building's paging system and supplement it
with speakers from the LD Systems inventory. The paging system
is critical in keeping those being processed through the center
informed while allowing the staff to communicate throughout the
building.

The former grocery store slowly transforms into the new
local FEMA processing center.

(L. to R.) Robert Ausmus, Matt LeRoy and Doug Alexander integrate
LDS mixers and amps into the current paging system in order to
be
ready on-time.

LD Systems' speakers hung in area not covered by the existing system
which had to be brought back into working order for the next day's
use.
